Education today is not the privilege of a few and should be mandatory for all. Equity in the provision of education is the new slogan of the government. The question now is how far this slogan is being brought into action.
A mother is usually the child’s first teacher and for her to execute all these responsibilities adequately, she needs some degree of education. Without education, nurturing and educating children may be poorly executed.
Many of the children in our communities do not have access to education and even if they do, the quality of education they receive is insufficient to build their capacity to become change agents. The general view is that the quality of education offered is low and standards have dropped due to lack of adherence to standard educational practices, corruption and mismanagement of funds, low qualifications, non conducive learning environment, lack of learning resources and basic facilities, to mention but a few.
In this area , we are out to restore the access to quality education, create a conducive learning environment and provide basic learning resources and infrastructural facilities to the children in the rural communities around us, to enable them build their capacity to become change agents, we believe this children are the future, so investing in them is simply investing in the future.
